GSR@NWH: Overview and Applications
Overview
Our program is dedicated to preparing residents for the evolving demands of modern medicine. Our comprehensive curriculum is meticulously designed to foster both clinical excellence and professional growth, enabling residents to develop and sharpen skills vital for superior patient outcomes. Through a blend of didactic instruction, advanced simulation training, and hands-on patient care, residents gain critical knowledge across the breadth of surgical subspecialties, supported by mentorship and a focus on practice management.
During the five-year training program, our residents will receive diverse and comprehensive training across a network of distinguished medical centers across Northwell Health. Residents will gain invaluable experience through specialized rotations, including critical care and trauma at Danbury Hospital, advanced hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery at Vassar Brothers Hospital, complex transplant surgery at North Shore University Hospital and specialized pediatric surgical training at Cohen Children's Medical Center. This multi-institutional approach exposes residents to a broad spectrum of cases, patient populations, and high-acuity procedures, preparing them to graduate as exceptionally well-rounded and capable surgeons. Housing is provided at rotations more than 30 miles away from NWH.
